I'm just stealing a few moments from my sleepy time to let you know what I've been up to over the past few days.

Friday was a welcome break from a difficult week (although aforementioned week was given a wonderful Chum-ly boost on Wednesday). I got home and slumped in a very slumpy way. I think I cooked and I think it was spag bol and I think we watched TV. However, I can't be sure as it feels like an eternity ago. I know that Mendi was exhausted and went straight to bed for a nap after dinner and I sat with my Mam and did a bit of reminiscing - quite emotional for her, as it was Remembrance Day and the anniversary of my Dad's death is fast approaching. That's enough about Friday.

Saturday was loads better. I was up bright and early and headed into Melton Mowbray to do the weekly shop. Following that my Mam and I checked the stock at the farm and she got to watch me lugging bales of Haylage and tubs of Brewers' Grains for some very hungry cattle. Stopped in to check on the cuteness that is Calf James. Back home and said Hi and Goodbye to Mendi who was off to help Pixie with some decorating. I was left with a long list of chores which I manfully moaned about for a while before getting stuck in. With my Mam's able help we cleaned the garage, mowed and strimmed the lawn, carried firewood into the house, tidied the shed, swept the yard and generally worked bloody hard. We were shattered by the time Mendi got back. We only had time for a quick showers, some hurried packing and a last minute dash out for a DVD before Mendi and I had to say goodbye to the boys, Maggie and my Mam.

Mendi and I headed to Peterborough to check in at the Queensgate Hotel before walking to the river and having a wonderful meal at East restaurant - still the best Asian food I've had outside the Far East - highly recommended. We had crispy chili noodles, followed by slow-roasted 5-spice neck of pork and a salad of beef filet with chili - scrumptious. From the restaurant it was a brisk walk to the Broadway Theatre to hear Bob Geldof. Bob was on fine form and was equally adept at slamming down ignorant gits who talked during a quiet, emotional song to hammering out Rat Trap and Mary of the Fourth Form with his excellent band. It was cold by the time Bob had finished his encores so we opted for a taxi back tot he hotel and an interesting night cap!

Sunday dawned slowly and it was lunchtime by the time we left the hotel and went to do a spot of shopping. I groaned when Mendi remarked that a local furniture store was advertising a "Closing Down Sale" and agreed to wander in to appear enthusiastic. My emotions soon changed. It really was a closing down sale and there were bargains to be had. We were able to replace our squeaky bed frame with a lovely new bed - a £900 bed reduced to £199! Bargain! Can you guess how we spent the rest of the day? Yup, I was roped in to develop a magnificent erection. However, Mendi's interior decorating skills did leave me somewhat puzzled. The new bed is bigger than the one it's replaced and we have a small bedroom. So why did I end up moving MORE furniture into an already cramped room? I'm assured it works! ;@)

Sunday evening was spent relaxing. I think we'd earned it after a hectic, but very pleasant weekend.
